Background
Plan B was set up in 2008 by three partners with extensive experience in managed hosting. Having seen many customers compromise their IT Disaster Recovery (DR) requirements because of the expense and complexity of traditional approaches, they were determined to offer a more successful service which gives customers a much greater degree of protection at lower cost.
The Plan B service was conceived to solve not only the technical issues of backing up and successfully recovering working servers quickly and reliably, but also to help reduce the associated issues that accompany an IT disaster by making such a process fast and very simple for the customer.
Plan B specialises in protecting and recovering the IT servers that sit at the heart of a business and are by far the hardest part of a company’s IT infrastructure to recover. We are unlike most other IT DR providers in that this is all we do. The fact that we own technology specifically developed for IT server disaster recovery means we can offer a better, more certain, more simple and therefore ultimately more successful service which gives customers a much greater degree of protection for less.
Plan B’s business
Wholly owned and fully funded by its executive management, Plan B is profitable and debt-free. Our staff are specialists in running and recovering systems and are vetted to BS7858 standards. Our resilient systems run from secure modern data centres in low-risk locations that offer at least full N+1 facilities. Our processes and procedures are ITIL compliant and the business is ISO27001/2 (Information Security Management) certified.
In the year to April 2013, we have greatly increased our customer base and revenue, and the business is cash generative profitable and debt free. In the last year we have carried out around 80,000 automatic test restores of customers’ recovery servers and Plan B currently manages well over half a petabyte of customer data.
